Cape Elizabeth is located in Cumberland County approximately five miles southeast of Portland and adjacent to South Portland. The town of Cape Elizabeth sits on a peninsula that juts twelve miles into the open sea, rimmed by craggy shores and sandy beaches; it marks the entrance to picturesque Casco Bay.
Cape Elizabeth is one of the smaller towns in Southern Maine being 15 square miles with the population of approximately around 11,000. As a residential suburb of the Greater Portland area, the town is within easy reach of the urban experience. But its proximity to the ocean, its wealth of park land and open space, and the laid-back, welcoming lifestyle of a small town give Cape Elizabeth a unique tranquility.
Cape Elizabeth is most well known for being home to Crescent Beach, Two Lights State Park, and Portland Head Light, which was built to mark the entrance to Portland Harbor and Casco Bay.
Portland Head Light, claims to be the most-photographed lighthouse in the world, and is actually located in what is now called Fort Williams Park. The town is host to an annual Labor Day Art Show, and the Cape Elizabeth Family Fun Day is held at Fort Williams during the end of June each year, and is a fun-filled day of games, live music, food, rides and fireworks.
